WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – It’s vacation for the Westborough Public Schools and although the weather has been warmer than usual, it is still February. The Westborough Public Library has a lot of kid-friendly activities planned to keep your children occupied during their week off from school.

Maureen Ambrosino, Director of the Library, said the library is offering a lot of events that could interest everyone this week.

“We have a whole bunch of stuff going on this week. It’s cool because there really is something for everyone,” Ambrosino said.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, children can see magic by Scott Jameson. Geared toward school-age children, the program will take place in the Children’s Room at 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, teenagers are invited to learn how to make healthy food on the fly. Children in grades six through 12 will learn how to make healthy, delicious dishes with just a few ingredients in a few minutes.

Led by Bruce Tretter, teens will be able to learn, experiment and sample at this event from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Westborough Public Library Meeting Room.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, children of all ages and adults are invited to the library for a movie. The morning movie presentation for adults at 11 a.m. and the evening movie presentation for adults at 6 p.m. will feature the screening of “The Help.”

The family movie matinee at 3 p.m. will feature the screening of “E.T.”

“We definitely wanted to have a lot scheduled because we know people travel but we know there are a lot of people who stay home too,” Ambrosino said. “February vacation is busier than Christmas vacation but this winter is unusual with the weather. Usually the weather is bad and it’s nasty out and people want to get out of the house and do something. We think that even though there isn’t any snow on the ground, people will still come out.”

There are a few things that are different about the library’s schedule. Ambrosino wanted to remind everyone that the Westborough Public Library is closed on Monday, Feb. 20 for President’s Day. Regularly scheduled storytimes are also suspended during school vacation week but will continue on their regular schedule after.
