WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – The Board of Selectmen may be discussing something unconventional soon: putting advertisement bumper stickers on public vehicles.
Selectman Ian Johnson presented the idea to the Board after he’d heard the town of Littleton was trying it out. The advertisement space could be sold to generate revenue for the town.
“Littleton is the only municipality that I know of doing something like this and it seems to be successful on a limited basis,” Johnson said. “But it has paid for the cruiser it’s on already.”
Town Manager Jim Malloy said he would reach out to the Town Manager of Littleton to discuss more specific details of the advertisements.
“I love the revenue aspect of it but I don’t want our cars driving around like they’re in NASCAR with all the stickers,” Board of Selectmen Chair Lydia Goldblatt said.
What do you think? Could the idea work in Westborough?
