WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – The Westborough Board of Selectmen voted to close the warrant for Annual Town Meeting to be held on Saturday, March 17.
At the next board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28, several boards and committees will come before selectmen to answer questions they may have for any of the warrant articles.
The draft presented by Town Manager Jim Malloy to the Selectmen contains 33 warrant articles that will be revised before they vote to approve it. Selectmen voted to remove a few articles from the warrant at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
One of the articles removed included the institution of a deputy chief of police. Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon said there were still some things to figure out before the position is voted on.
“I asked if the article could be removed because I looked over it and I think I need some more time to answer some questions about the contract,” Gordon said.
Selectmen also voted to remove an article about an amendment to bylaws dictating the purpose of the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee decided that it would rather work with the Selectmen to put together a better definition of the committee for the future.
Annual Town Meeting will take place on Saturday, March 17 in the Westborough High School Auditorium, 90 West Main St. from 1 to 10:30 p.m.
