WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Join the Westborough Public Schools Special Education Parent Advisory Council “Anxiety, A Parents Guide” on Thursday, March 15 in the Mill Pond School Auditorium.

Join the community for the opportunity to discuss what every parent should know about childhood/teen anxiety. This workshop will cover the developmentally normal anxieties children and young adults face, tools that parents can utilize to help empower their kids, and signs that suggest more significant difficulties. Dr. David Stember will touch upon strategies that all parents can use, as well as approaches utilized to assist individuals who display more concerning symptoms. There will be time for questions and discussion.

Stember holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and maintains faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital. He is a recognized expert in cognitive behavioral/exposure-based therapy for anxiety, learning and behavioral disorders. Stember is an internationally featured speaker, who trains educators and consults to a variety of school districts throughout New England.

This workshop is being presented by Westborough SEPAC, in collaboration with the Armstrong, Fales, Hastings, Mill Pond, and Gibbons Parent Groups, and Westborough Fine Arts Education Association. The program will focus on childhood anxiety, for parents of children age 5 to 12 years old from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and adolescent anxiety for parents of children ages 12-18 years old at 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
