WORCESTER, Mass. - There is no better sports story than one of an ongoing battle between cross-town rivals, and in Shrewsbury, this tale is known very well.
The infamous rivalry between St. John's High School and Shrewsbury High School reached new heights on Tuesday night, as the Pioneers defeated the Colonials, 55-30, in the Division I Football Playoffs at Foley Stadium in Worcester.
With the victory, St. John's (8-4) advances to the Division I Super Bowl to face Leominster on Saturday, Dec. 2. The contest will be held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, and kickoff is slated for 11:00 a.m.
Earlier in the season, the Blue Devils bested St. John's in a 23-15 overtime victory on Oct. 21.
